Winterkids

WinterkidsWinterkids are a bona fide example that quirky folk driven, organ playing, indie pop is now alive. Despite their name, which comes from all members being born during those cold winter months, WinterKids music has the optimism of spring, and the sweet promise of summer.

The band also believe fervently in a DIY ethos and self-promotion, and this has seen them self-finance the recording of their debut album and start their own label – Little House (using the proceeds from their first single releases and monthly Guildford club night, “Club Go-Go”).

Determined to be different their first two, sold out singles were presented with a unique ‘authenticity certificate’, a specially produced fanzine and were carefully wrapped with ribbons and feathers, proving that the band weren’t scared of going the extra mile, and they also utilized Stussy illustrator Zara Wood to design the theatrical logo.

The band also recently played a sold-out show at Club NME, KoKo and toured with indie hipsters Vincent Vincent and The Villians. Furthermore they have also found time to squeeze in a triumphant tour of Japan (in September) and have just returned from a further tour in Germany following the release of the 'Wonderland' EP.

They also sold 1000 advance copies of their first album ‘Memoirs’ through their myspace page to pay their way to SXSW ’07.

Set for big things in 2008, the Winterkids utterly infectious blend of sounds are the very essence of DIY culture – they are James Snider (22, vocals), Tom Downer (22, Bass, Mandolin, Banjo), Bradley Osborne (23, Guitar, Lap Steel, Violin), Chris Muldoon (22, Drums) and Hannah Snider (21 Organs /vocals) - these are kids that are definitely doing it for themselves.
